oh man, my Tiger boy.
i first want to give major props to his owner, Kishaya.
getting a dog was her idea, rescuing a dog was mine. having allergies and a (then) 5yr old daughter, it disqualified her from many of the local rescue organizations. i tend to make decisions on a casebycase // dogbydog basis... surely out of 35 dogs (one particular rescue that i have in mind) one of them would have fit into this family... and they weren't picky about age, sex, looks, etc.
long story short - with all the craigslist surfing i do - i came across a 1yr old male bichon//poodle mix who was in foster care. great with kids, great with people and other dogs, housebroken and had successfully gone thru an obedience training program. i jumped on the opportunity, as did Kishaya and Tiger was a complete angel his first day home. too good to be true? TRUE!
the only thing that was accurate in Tigers foster moms story was that he was male... and house broken (we now suspect that she wasnt a foster at all, but merely trying to rehome a dog that didnt work for her). it would not have been uncommon for a first time dog owner to head straight to the pound with this handful of a dog... but guess what? thru all this run aways, snapping, spite with other dogs and special dietary needs (the list definitely goes on)... 2yrs later (almost to date) Tiger is still in a very loving home and a cherished part of the family.
the two weeks that i had with him last month were awesome. it took some juggling (i had a chihuahua here at the time as well as my two dogs and a cat) but everything worked out perfectly and Tiger is always welcome here! i still can't figure out why he chooses to avoid Gia or why the bond between he and Tilden is so strong - but i love watching them play and that my 'son' has been accepted into Tigers tiny circle of friends.
