September who?

I can't believe that its already the weekend and that in 1 week, August will be over... where does the time go?

Last weekend was a blast! My sweet girl Gia officially turned 11yrs old on August 15th [i just realized that i've been saying she's 11 all year] per usual, she requested no fancy gifts or sweet treats [a girls gotta watch her figure] but insisted that we visit the pool so of course a mini swim party was in order. tilden and walker came along for the fun and gia swam and swam and swam until her 11yr old dysplastic hips could go no more... a shot of adequan, doubled up springtime longevity and she was as good as new!!

...a few more lovely leos that i'd like to celebrate; tiger turned 4!!! gracey turned 1!!! nugget turned 6!!! charlie [P] turned 1!!! buckley [rip] would have been 3!!! and myself...embarking on year 29, eek! [if i forgot anyone, i'm blaming it on my old age, lol]

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Lost my train of thought...

Things have been so busy around here. First off - Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone!

Before I could make it back to tell my tales of Sir Buckley, he was gone, then back again for a couple of days and I still wasn't able to catch up on my blog - Sorry!

Although a Puggle - his personality is every bit true for Beagles. Stubborn, Independent, Curious, and man does he use his nose. The second I let him out of the crate in the morning, his nose would hit the ground and he didn't pick it up until it was time for bed. If you're good at reading in between the lines, yes, this means that the cat food, the cat litter box, the trash cans and my laundry basket were all discovered and thoroughly investigated, LOL.

His dad asked yesterday if I was available this weekend... So I'm off to follow up on that. I have Tiger and Tuney here... Tiger is leaving tomorrow... Tuney on Sunday... which means there is room for the Buckaroo!

Tiger

oh man, my Tiger boy.
i first want to give major props to his owner, Kishaya.

getting a dog was her idea, rescuing a dog was mine. having allergies and a (then) 5yr old daughter, it disqualified her from many of the local rescue organizations. i tend to make decisions on a casebycase // dogbydog basis... surely out of 35 dogs (one particular rescue that i have in mind) one of them would have fit into this family... and they weren't picky about age, sex, looks, etc.

long story short - with all the craigslist surfing i do - i came across a 1yr old male bichon//poodle mix who was in foster care. great with kids, great with people and other dogs, housebroken and had successfully gone thru an obedience training program. i jumped on the opportunity, as did Kishaya and Tiger was a complete angel his first day home. too good to be true? TRUE!

the only thing that was accurate in Tigers foster moms story was that he was male... and house broken (we now suspect that she wasnt a foster at all, but merely trying to rehome a dog that didnt work for her). it would not have been uncommon for a first time dog owner to head straight to the pound with this handful of a dog... but guess what? thru all this run aways, snapping, spite with other dogs and special dietary needs (the list definitely goes on)... 2yrs later (almost to date) Tiger is still in a very loving home and a cherished part of the family.

the two weeks that i had with him last month were awesome. it took some juggling (i had a chihuahua here at the time as well as my two dogs and a cat) but everything worked out perfectly and Tiger is always welcome here! i still can't figure out why he chooses to avoid Gia or why the bond between he and Tilden is so strong - but i love watching them play and that my 'son' has been accepted into Tigers tiny circle of friends.

...almost 28.

tomorrow i will be 1 day older. at 8:02am it will mark 28yrs of life. i'm still on the fence about the whole thing.

in other news... business wise, things are picking up. i have the dalmations - nana, kovu, and twinkle - the chihuahua, once a day for 2 more weeks. nana recently had knee surgery and seems to be healing just fine, although if you asked her she'd probably say she's already healed - especially judging by the way she tries to race from her crate to the backyard. mobility and pill administration (6 pills - eek) is going well, we argue about the e-collar/cone... but overall she's in good spirits and thats the important part. twinkle is coming around... i still get nipped in the ankle now and then and her bark can drive any sane person up the wall, but there is something very endearing about her as well, so she's a-okay in my book.

the first week of september (and beyond?) tiger will be here with us... its always an interesting time with that little dude. i'm excited... i haven't seen him in awhile.
